Who
we are.
Yangebup Christian Reformed
Church has been meeting since May 1995 and is one of the Christian Reformed
Churches of Australia. These churches are part of a worldwide body of
Christians which derive their name from the Protestant Reformation of the 16th
century.
Reformed churches have
been in existence all over the world for three and half centuries and belong to
a larger family of Presbyterian type churches who accept the Bible as the
authoritative Word of God, relevant to all ages. The denomination in Australia
was inaugurated in 1951.
Our Yangebup congregation was planted by the
Willetton Christian Reformed church. Yangebup called the first, and current
minister, Pastor Peter Smit in November
1995 and he began serving this congregation in February 1996.
What
we believe.
Together with fellow
Christians we bring the Good News that God so loved the world that He sent His
Son to restore us into a living relationship with Himself, through the death
and resurrection of Jesus. The Reformed Churches have a very high regard for
God’s Word, and seek to bring its message to bear on our lives. We believe that
God’s grace is available to all, and we can receive His offer of forgiveness by
faith in Jesus Christ.
Not only do we wish to teach the truth of God,
we also desire to share our hope with others. Here in Yangebup our mission
statement is “To be God’s instruments in building a local community of
Christian disciples by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.” We desire to be faithful to our Lord’s great
commission (Matt 28:19,20), growing in faith and service and sharing the good
news of Christ.
