WHY WORRY?
Read Psalm 37:1-11 (key verse 8).
Worrying is an indication that we are
not trusting God. Are you a worrier or do you trust?
Read these verses from Matthew 6:25-34:
Verse 25 tells us not to worry abouth things in life. This is hard to do
but are you prepared to share now your particular areas of worry?
Verses 26 to 29 speak of nature. How do you see these comments relating to
the issues that concern you at this time?
Verses 30 to 32 question our faith and God's provision in our lives. How
has God provided for you specifically this week?
Verses 33 and 34 speak very much of today. How do you seek His
righteousness and His kingdom? Do we really understand what that
means? Do you think that tomorrow will be any different by worrying about
it? What is on your program for tomorrow and are you concerned about it?
Read Matthew 10:17-20.
In these verses Jesus is encouraging His followers
and preparing them for difficult times. Do you believe that the Holy
Spirit can put words into your mouth and can you share any such incidents?
Read Luke 12:25,26.
Jesus takes His message a stage further by saying that
worrying won't add an hour to your life. Do you believe that the reverse
could apply? Do you know of any compulsive worriers or can you yourself
admit to that condition? How do you think worry affects health and well-being?
Read Philippians 4:4-9.
To eliminate worry it must be replaced by
something else - preferably prayer. Paul is urging the Philippians to turn
worry into prayer. God's peace is not the same as the world's peace - it
means recognizing that God is in control.
Read 1 Peter 5:6-11.
How humble are we? Are we humble enough to be
uplifted under God's mighty hand? Can you place God in control of your
life so that He can take care of your anxieties? Yet we are urged to be
self-controlled and alert for our enemy, the devil. If you are confused or
are in any doubt, conclude this study by reading 1 John 5 verses 1 to 12.
