HEAVEN'S ARITHMETIC
Read Psalm 8:1-9.
An exercise in humilty, "What is man, that you are
mindful of him?" (verse 4).
Read Psalm 10:1-18.
We are taught in the world to think independently, but
there is an incompatibility between this arrogance of independence and
God's guiding influence. Do you seek God's guidance in all that you do?
Read Matthew 5:1-10
The Sermon on the Mount. This speaks of God's
blessings for the righteous and humble.
Read Matthew 6:19-24.
Some heavenly advice for earthly creatures.
Read Mark 6:1-12.
Jesus responded only to those whose pride did not
undermine their faith (key verse 5). Where do you stand in such an assessment?
Read Luke 14:1-14.
Jesus teaches on humility (key verse 11).
Read Luke 18:9-14.
Pride can cause us to be resented by others and cut off
from God (key verse 14).
Read 1 Corinthians 4:1-7.
Paul explains the role and fuction of Apostles
(stewards and ministers) of Christ, emphasising the perils of pride (key
verses 6,7).
Read 2 Corinthians 5:7-12.
Paul speaks to the church at Corinth regarding
faith. False teachers were proud of themselves and Paul cautions against
these people.
Read Galatians 6:1-5.
Test your own actions and prove yourself. Do not
think of yourself as better than others.

Joshua 7:1-26 - Confused by their defeat, Joshua and the elders humbled themselves before God.
2 Kings 5:1-19 - Proud and heroic Naamen had to humble himself before Elisha to receive healing.
