Martha Henry, a lawyer in the Cook Islands, reports on recent developments there (May 2006).
Work is great – and I’m enjoying it. I just recently returned from Malaysia and Singapore for work – it was a blessed trip. On my way back from Malaysia I spent some time in NZ, visiting my younger sister. I had a splendid time with her fellowship there. I was surprised to learn that the Pastor of her fellowship is apart of the South pacific prayer assembly – and that he had been in Vanuatu in 2002. He joined the March for Jesus, we had in Port Vila town, Vanuatu – which the University of the South Pacific law school Christian Felowship (USP CF) was also apart of.
I got to learn more about the prayer assembly’s vision at this fellowship. There was something about that vision which I believe the Lord was drawing me to. I later learned that my boss is also apart of this prayer assembly – and as soon as I got back to work, we got together and had a wonderful time sharing and praying. I’ve been joining them now for prayer meeting on Tuesday nights.
They have been involved in the prayer assembly conference at Cairns in May 2006. I had one of the members tell me, “Martha, all I can say to you is important! God is going to use you at an important time, for an important purpose.” She also told me that the fact that I went to Malaysia, that I met the fellowship in NZ (which my sister is apart of), and that my boss is apart of the prayer assembly – is not a coincidence – Praise the Lord! She also spoke to me about “holiness”.
I have been chosen amongst others, to represent the Cook Islands for the 1st ever south pacific Youth Conference in Tahiti (in July) – about 25 countries will be present – mainly, young people! I believe the Lord has called me for this – and will be using me here – and I’m praying that the Lord will prepare me for it. Pls pray for me.
There’s so much happening here. We have an evangelism team for our church, which has received a word from the Lord to evangelise in one of our outer islands, Aitutaki. That will be some time next month. Our prayer meeting group is growing – YWAM have joined us, and so many youth from different villages on Rarotonga have asked to join us. Yes, our prayer meeting group is mainly comprised of young people and children – and children are getting visions from the Lord too!! A lot of things have been revealed – some which are yet to come to pass, and some have come to pass.
[See Mission News: Solomon Islands for similar reports of the Lord giving revelations to the children and youth in the South Pacific.]
About 2 weeks ago, Seini’s mum (Priscilla) was here in Rarotonga for work – and she joined our prayer meeting group. She was blessed to see, so many young people – and she gave a very blessed testimony that night – many youth were inspired by it. God is doing a wonderful thing here – Praise the Lord. Dr Priscilla Puamau was the principal of the Teachers College in Fiji and is now an international educational consultant based in the South Pacific. Her daughter Seini is a lawyer and close friend of mine, and has been involved in many mission teams in the South Pacific.
