~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+ My job as chairperson is to get as quickly as possible from the
beginning to the end, and your job is to stop me
+ No one can call you a pig if you fall into a trough; but they can if
all you do is lie there and grunt
+ There are some cancers that can begin, grow, and kill you in three
days
+ Non-assertive women are more likely to persuade men; but assertive
confident women are more likely to persuade women
+ Don't be afraid to take a big step if it is indicated. You can't
cross a chasm in two small jumps (David Lloyd George)
+ The person who has great peace of heart pays no attention to either
praise or blame (Imitation of Christ). But (Mark Twain): 'I can live
for two months on one good compliment'
+ God is very big and humans very small and don't you forget it
+ If you can't annoy somebody, there's little point in writing
(Kingsley Amis)
+ Game played in sick churches: don't tell 'em what's on and then
blame them for not coming
+ Many people would sooner die than think - in fact they do (Bertrand
Russell)
+ Symptoms of a collapsing society: Breakdown in law and order;
excessive interest in eroticism; excessive need for excitement;
complicated structures for taxation and administration; excessive and
pervasive boredom (Muggeridge)
+ There are essentially three groups of religions: secular - bounded
by birth and death; cyclical - if you're good enough you'll eventually
become nothing; linear - eg. Christianity, with the climax of the
cosmos in Christ
+ None deserves their reputation, whether good or bad
+ God specializes in making weak vessels strong: it's called psycho-
ceramics
+ Many of us crucify ourselves between two thieves - regret for the
past and fear of the future
+ I've often regretted my words, but never my silences
+ Do I love you because you're beautiful or are you beautiful because
I love you? (Joe Aldridge)
