1 EVEN BETTER NEWS
CLM-0-194 (Ministry of the Olympics New Testament is Spreading)
included a 'good news' item that read:
One boy was engrossed in reading his New Testament at home
when his mother asked if she could borrow it. However, he said
he wanted to keep on reading it and she would have to buy her
own copy!
The updated version is that the reason he said he needed to keep
his copy was because it had a page in it that told him how to
follow Jesus and he wanted to do that.

2 YUGOSLAV CHRISTIANS WELCOME CHANGE
Representatives of minority Christian faiths welcomed the new
administration of Vojislav Kostunica in Yugoslavia. "This
opportunity has been given to us by God, for He desires people to
live peacefully, to hear the truth and for all to be saved," Zarko
Djordjevic, pastor of the Novi Sad Baptist Church, told Keston News
Service. "We had 50 years of vicious sowing of atheism in the
country, and now it is important for people not to be content
merely with cosmetic changes, with political changes, but to strive
for inward changes."
Kostunica sought the guidance of the Serbian Orthodox Church
as Slobodan Milosevic's government disintegrated. Kostunica, a
practising member of the Orthodox faith, visited Patriarch Pavle
the night of Oct. 5, after a day of protest by hundreds of
thousands of Serbs in Belgrade marked the beginning of the end of
Milosevic's rule. - ReligionToday

4 WORSHIPPERS KILLED IN CHURCH BOMBING IN TAJIKISTAN
Dushanbe, capital of the Central Asian nation of Tajikistan, was
rocked on Sunday 1 October by two powerful explosions that ripped
apart the Korean-led Sonmin Grace Church where some 200 Christians
had gathered for worship. Ten members were killed and up to 70
injured, many critically, in this deliberate and targeted act of
terrorism. Whilst Russian newspapers are blaming Islamic militants
(who are currently making incursions in Tajikistan and all through
Central Asia), the Tajik authorities refuse to speculate and
responded by arresting 12 of the church's leaders. Pray for four
who are still detained and have suffered violent interrogation.
Please pray also for the Christians suffering through this attack,
and for the authorities in Tajikistan, where religious liberty has
had a generally good history.
