Rowland, since you invited comments on this excellent article:
I noted one missing point in your article germane to the exponential
increase of draws and competitions to get folk to participate in
opportunities of chance: These are very frequently a cover to build
mailing lists for marketers. By giving your name and address to these
faceless come-ons you are also frequently setting yourself (and your
family?) up for a barrage of unwanted, unsolicited impersonal 'mail'
when your personal details are inevitably sold on as part of the
generated database. I know from experience that it can take many
months to get free of it all. Caveat emptor.
>Christians must keep two facts in mind when seeking gain or profit
>from their activities. They must give fair labor or exchange for what
>they receive. They seek to earn for themselves, not from selfish
>motivation, but in order to be of service to others. "Let those who
>steal steal no longer, but rather let them labor, performing with
>their own hands what is good, in order that they may have something
>to share with those in need." (Eph. 4:28)
Someone commented on this (sounds like Bishop Taylor-Smith to me)
that this verse encapsulates the wonder of redemption in a nutshell:
From thief to worker to benefactor - all in one verse!
Blessings - and thanks for keeping our minds from atrophy and our
spirits from lethargy.
