Doctrinal Statements

Fri, 3 Oct 1997

I wish to make a comment and add something to that doctrinal
statement you just submitted for our perusal.

I generally agree to that doctrinal statement, although I'm careful
not to espouse a creed, since I believe the Word of God is my entire
creed. I had one point of contention with the supposed "creed" you
submitted. It said:

...salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ for all men; and
those who repent and believe on Him are born again of the Holy
Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life and become the children of
God.

This is not a biblical believe since in Acts 2 :38 it says:

(Acts 2:38 NIV) Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one
of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.
And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

So the biblical doctrine says repent AND be baptized, while the
creed you submitted said repent and believe---whoever wrote it
forgot, I guess, to add baptized. I guess that's because it is a
creed of men.
