During Winter 2003 Pastor Graham is exploring the options for the most appropriate form and time for Christian Ministry in Newington.

Pastor Graham has, since 1999,
been aware that residents are asking for a Sunday Morning Service in Newington.
Pastor is greatful to the residents who have come to morning services on those occasions when it was possible to hold morning services in the Community Centre.
Various suggestions have been made for possible service times on Sunday afternoon or Sunday night and Pastor would value feedback.
Please email your interest for Spring or Daylight savings service times.

During Winter 2003 Pastor will continue Sunday Night Prayer Times in Newington and Sydney Olympic Park.

The Enduring Faith ministry will operate during the World Cup in October

Our history...
In December 1999 residents commenced moving into Newington Stage Three.
Pastor Graham (Homebush Bay Christian Fellowship) had been holding Christmas Carols in the Sydney Aquatic Centre. Whilst handing out invitations residents said they would like Carols in Newington.
Unfortunately Newington had no meeting place. Pastor Graham approached Mirvac for permission to hold Carols in Cumberland Park. Residents were supportive. The body corporate of the Apartments were supportive, but Mirvac refused permission.

The owner of an apartment offered Pastor the use of a spare room for a prayer room.
Messages were recorded in the Prayer Room and Pastor set up a virtual church site on the Internet after recording a Prayer for the Year 2000 in the apartment after watching the fireworks from the balcony of the apartment. It was available on the Homebush Bay Christian Ministries Ministry Line 1902 260 511 at 55 cents per min, however that menu item was later replaced with more recent events.

During 2000, Pastor Graham sought to provide a ministry through his Ministryline 1902 260 511
recording prayers from the Newington Prayer room, and other places in Homebush Bay.
He also wrote early web pages in the prayer room with the user name Newington on the "ilovejesus" web site
being dedicated to providing virtual ministry to the residents Newington Village.

On Good Friday Night Easter 2000 an all night Prayer Vigil was held in the Newington Apartment, following all night Prayer Vigils in Homebush Bay in newly completed venues.

In the meantime Newington residents were invited to celebrate Christmas and Easter in Sydney Olympic Park - then named Homebush Bay.

During December 2001, we found the Newington Community Centre to be an ideal setting in which to grow a local fellowship in Newington.
Newington Christian Fellowship commenced services in the Newington Community Centre at 10.30am on Sunday 9th December 2001 in the Meeting Room of the Newington Community Centre - the first Christian Church Service in a meeting room open to the Public to be held in Newington.

Unfortunately there was a new roster produced in 2002 as three churches applied to use the on Community Centre which meant we had to revert to Church in a house for our morning services in Auburn at 10.30am

In January 2002 we held a 6.30pm service on the first Sunday night of each month. We appreciate that morning services are the most preferred, however we felt that this was an opportunity to meet in Newington

A February 2002 programme - a sister city programe during the Salt Lake City Winter Games - an Enduring Faith Project.
was held at 6.30pm on Sundays
10th, 17th and 24th February 2002
in the Newington Community Centre.

Weekly Sunday Night Prayer and Fellowship
commenced October 2002
in the Main Hall.
There was a recess after Christmas Day
and Sunday night services resumed
at 7.30pm on Australia Day 2003.
until the end of May 2003
After much prayer and consideration
It was decided to explore the options
during a winter break.

Pastor continues prayer times on Sunday night in alternative venues.

Christians who belong to Churches in other suburbs are invited to join Pastor Graham for a time of prayer after returning to Newington after your Sunday night services

An after Church supper fellowship is also an option.

> Pastor Graham's massage is,
"God bless Newington."

> Pastor Graham is committed to historical Christian teaching and holds that the Bible is truth revealed
by God who is the all knowing creator and personal - applied to our culture and sub cultures
under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Since studying Sociology at University from a Christian perspective,
Pastor Graham has held that
Jesus is the answer
because the problem is greed, hate, selfishness, rebellion and immorality.
This has practical outcomes because such a faith impacts on social issues
such as health, education and transport.

In Newington, Pastor Graham has:
>written several submissions to assist Newington including:
Lighting the path to Woo La Ra,
> the need for a pedestrian bridge over Hill Road to connect to the Olympic
> Boulevard,
delivery of the Review Pictorial for local news
and the inclusion of Newington, as a suburb eligible to make submissions
on the clean up of waste materials on the Union Carbide site.
>
Ø A special welcome to residents who have recently moved into Newington.

Newington Christian Fellowship is a place where faith in Christ is found or deepened
through inspirational preaching
followed up by personal prayer and Bible study
where the preacher empowers
rather than controls
where dependency on the Lord
is preferable to co -dependency upon the leadership
not withstanding
sin will be rebuked
in the hope of leading to repentance
and through the Lord's grace
a growth in Christ.
