We need to write to the politicians and the papers to express our opposition to the
plan to build a Porn Film Studio here. We do not have to write "as Christians" simply
as concerned residents, votors and ratepayers.
This letter appeared in Sunday's Canberra Times:
So, the porn peddlers of the ACT propose to establish "a fully fledged professional
pornography-film production industry" here (CT, 3 January, p.1).
The Eros Foundation spokeswoman says "she would expect the studio would be eligible
for assistance under existing government business incentive programs". She also said
that Canberra's legisation of brothels and the distribution of films featuring non-violent erotica meant that it was the only city in the world where such a film studio
could operate. What an achievement for the Capital city of Australia!
This sleaze industry contributes $34 million annually to Canberra's economy; if the
Legislative Assembly approved the funding of a sex-film industry the tax payers of
the ACt would be deprived of the "benefits" (?) which now flow from the taxes on
X-rated videos to fund the production of professional pornography films.
Speak out against this proposal, ratepayers of the ACT.
