Global March for Jesus

Preparations for the Global March are well under way. The first one held in June 1994 saw the largest gathering of local christians Canberra has ever seen. An estimated 8,000 people celebrated and joined with over 12 million christians world-wide in a witness that God is alive and at work in countries right around the globe.

This time in Canberra, everyone will combine in one march. Here are the details:

Date: Saturday 25 May
Gathering Time: 12.30pm
Location: Civic Square
(Canberra Theatre)
Marching to: Parliament House
Arrival Time: 2.30pm

An indoor prayer vigil will again commence at 6.00pm Saturday after the march where prayer will focus each hour on countries around the globe as they march. This is your chance to be a part of the visible church linking arms around the world.

Prayer Groups for Schools (P.G.S.)

“Prayer Groups for Schools” began in Sydney in 1988. There are now over 300 groups in N.S.W., and over 700 in Australia and overseas.

It started when a group of parents began meeting to pray for their children’s school - for the teachers, the children, and all items relating to the school. “To bring the needs of the children before God, to support and encourage each other, as parents, to pray that each child will come to know the saving love of Jesus Christ, to pray for principals, teachers, staff and parents, as well as for the children. To pray that the schools will be directed by Biblical values, and to be a Christ-centred, positive influence in the schools,” to quote from the founder, Ann Harding’s description of their aims.

Children in our church attend a variety of different schools in the A.C.T. If you would like to start such a group as indicated above, or if you already have such a group going, I would love to hear from you. There are so many advantages in such groups linking together, e.g. mutual support and communication, sharing of experiences and concerns, etc. as well as linking up with, or working with, or through, any other Christian groups already in the schools.

Worship and Dance Group

Worship and Dance Group meets every second and fourth Friday of the month. Anyone who has a desire to dance before the Lord is welcome. The group is not aimed at performances. Contact Wendy Bloomfield, 258 8428.

An encouragement group for parents of adolescent and adult children is being held on the 2nd Friday of each month.
