Our purpose is to know and love God and to bring others to know and love Him.

Using our Money

How should we give money to God?

If we are God’s then we trust him to provide. God owns us and all we have, and promises that he will not let us go without. The Bible teaches us to give 10%. So of what is God’s, he lets us keep 90%. When we do this, he multiplies the 90% and enables us to have more with the 90% than we would have got with the 100%.

Robert Gilmore Letorneau learnt how to give, gave 90% and then some, and had plenty left over. In contrast, others earn heaps of money but give nothing.

It is helpful to understand this by saying: "I am the new manager of ME which is a business that God owns and I run. I will be a good steward of ME and remit 10% according to God’s standard. God honours my good stewardship and enables ME to have all that is needed."

The church is God’s medium of meeting the needs of people, and the church needs funds to do this. Giving to the church is giving to God. The church has been given the duty of being God’s distribution centre, and is accountable to God for the use of the resources that it manages for Him.

Who do people give their money to? Many people give huge amounts to institutions dealing in gambling, alcohol, other drugs, possessions, travel. As Christians we give to our God, others give to their god.
