About the Bible
Who wrote the Bible?
The Bible is a collection in two volumes of 66 separate books, with 40 authors, writing contributions over 1600 years, the most recent about 100 AD. Moses wrote the first five books in the time of the Egyptian Pharoahs. Traditions, written records and other sources were available to him. Moses was a prince - he was literate and wrote in Hebrew and Egyptian. Other books were written by many diverse people - prime minister, general, king, sheep farmer, prophet, farmer’s son, fishermen, tax collector, doctor, scholar.
Yet the Bible has one theme - salvation of mankind. All the authors agree throughout, and despite there being a multitude of themes and different emphases, there is no conflict between them. This is astounding! No other collection of books is anything like this. Further, the Bible has many prophecies. For instance there are about 30 prophecies on the birth of Jesus Christ, and they all came true. The Bible prophecy track record is 100% so far, and we expect 100% for prophecies yet to be fulfilled.
Is our Bible the same as the Jehovah’s Witnesses "New World Translation" Bible?
No. The Watchtower Society, which governs Jehovah’s Witnesses, has altered the Scriptures. They have the preconception of not believing in the Trinity, and have edited and altered passages to suit their beliefs. The Watchtower Society has engaged in impossible gymnastics to make the Bible say what they want. They are inconsistent and dishonest, using different grammatical standards in translating. Jehovah’s Witnesses thus use, and are misled by, a false Bible. For more inside information about the Jehovah's Witnesses, visit www.freeminds.org.
Why should I believe the Bible as opposed to the Koran and other religious writings?
We know the Bible is true because of personal experience, the transformation of our lives, and how it explains the created world and the predicament of humanity so well.
