Becoming a being a Christian is probably a lot different to many commonly held views.
For example, you are not a Christian simply because you got to church, do good deeds or say the right words. In fact, being a Christian has more to do with what God does for us than with what we do for God.
Many people confuse empty religion with real relationship which is the heart of the Christian life. You can do "religious" things all your life but have no genuine, life-changing,power-filled relationship with God.
Becoming a Christian is about believing that God is there, that he loves you, that he wants to share life with you and that opened the way for this to happen through his son Jesus. He even comes to live within us to help us in our new life. Every human being ever born was created to live life most fully and completely with God involved. It is only when we leave him out that so many things go wrong. Of course bad things happen to Christians to (because the world has been badly hurt by our rebellion against God) but he will provide the strength we need to live on with grace and peace if we trust in him.
Like the sound of this? Becoming a Christian has certainly changed my life eternally - why not open your life to God as well! Follow the simple steps below, send me an e-mail and visit your local church and let them know what has happened.
Congratulations! If you genuinely want to begin a personal and eternal
relationship with Jesus Christ, then this is the most important moment of your life!
Here's what you can do:
1. Admit that you have sinned and are far away from God. The reality of sin is that
"all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 2:23).
"The wages [reward] of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).
2. Accept that Jesus Christ died for your sins and conquered sin and death.
We are reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. "But God
demonstrated his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
3. Repent of (turn away from) your sins. True repentance means a
change of heart and mind, of purpose and direction. A change of masters.
4. To receive the gift of salvation, you must ask for it. "Yet
to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the
right to become children of God" (John 1:12).
5. Be reassured of your salvation. Don't necessarily trust your
feelings, but trust in the Word of God which says "I write these
things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may
know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:13).
