INTO Update

October 2003

In Jeremiah 33: 1-3 says, "...The word of the Lord came to him... Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."

As faithful partners in building God's kingdom in the lives of the lost people, in one accord, we prayed together that God's marvelous salvation will come to the Thai people here in Thailand and those in overseas. More to that, we are asking God that He will raise up and send a person of His own choice to go and bring the Good News among the Thai Diaspora, who are scattered in different countries of the world.

God is true to His promise! Right now, God is doing something great and new in the midst of the GCT churches in the area of Missions, especially the goal of sending a Thai missionary to minister among the Thai overseas.

On October 5, 2003, the 12 Mahapawn churches in Bangkok gathered once again to celebrate together their annual 10th Mahapawn Day with a theme "Mahapawn Churches in World Missions". There were more than 300 who came for this yearly special gathering. When it was time for God's message, the Rev. Jakraphan, the assistant pastor of the Mahapawn Sukumwit Church, mentioned this in his prayer and I quote "Almighty God, we want to see this Mahapawn Day celebration something different from those previous years." The Lord awakened the heart of His people toward Missions after that powerful message from God and there were 12 individuals who responded to the call of becoming missionary.

Then, the Dr. Rev. Timothy Jeng, the Senior Pastor of the Mahapawn Sukumwit Church challenged the people to get involve in world missions, to joint effort in realising the goal of sending a Thai missionary in Taiwan and to give financially towards global missions. As a result, that day, the giving was 48,643 baht (approximately US$1,250) towards sending missionary in Taiwan. On top of this, the churches were encouraged to take part in monthly giving of a percentage from their church income towards Missions. It was indeed a different one! Praise God for the leadership of Dr. Timothy Jeng.

The PowerPoint presentation of the short term mission trip from Taiwan and the testimony of the invited guest, Miss Daruni, who is presently working among the Thai workers in Taiwan, added to the momentum of the people's excitement in the work of Missions.

Truly, God did something different that very day! That special event was a history and a new beginning! People were just so excited about Missions.
