As well as worship services, St George's runs a number of ministry and activity programs organised by a dedicated team of coordinators. Involvement in a broad range of activities is encouraged at St G's as we work together in community.
Prayer: Jenny Gilby coordinates the prayer ministry at St G's which includes a range of opportunities including intercessary prayer for the Sunday services, an active prayer chain (contact Rosalie Atkinson on 62920515 for more specific details), specific prayer ministry following the 10:00am Sunday service, the occasional workshop and 'event'. You can find some prayer resources on the Narratives page.
If you would like more information give Jenny a call on 62926464.
Small Groups: Small groups are an important part of life at St George's. There are fellowship groups, prayer groups, study and discussion groups, mens groups, women's groups, groups for older people, groups for younger people, groups for mums of young children (with a child minding service included!) and groups that are a mixture of them all.
Pastoral Care: Pastoral care is intertwined with many aspects of life at St George's and is undertaken on numerous levels on both an organised and casual basis. If you would like to know more contact Pamela Mitchel at the parish office on 62866466.
Mission and Ministry to the Wider Church: St G's supports a number of link missionaries in service around the world. We also have involvement with a range of other ministry services including Fringe Ministries in Nimbin (northern NSW) and TEAR. Many individuals and groups actively participate in other ministry efforts beyond the local St George's bounds.
Contact Pam in the parish office on 62866466 if you would like to know more.
Alpha: St G's participates in the 'Alpha' community, running courses for those seeking more about the meaning of life and the Christian Faith. More details can be found on the Alpha page.
Contact Sarah Polhill on 61619546 for more info or to register your interest.
Youth: A youth program for those of high school age usually happens fortnightly on Friday afternoons during term time. Other activities and outings are organised on a regular basis. The program includes study, discussion and activities designed to nurture and grow young people within the St G's community. Our Youthzone pages cover more of the youth program.
On Sundays at the 10am service - fortnightly during term time - there is an Issues Dicussion Group for high schoolers.
Children: During term time at the Sunday 10am service, we run three programs for children:
- ‘NOAH'S GANG’ is St George's Sunday School for younger primary school aged children (yrs K-2). Contact Rosalie Atkinson for more information on 62920515.
- ‘LEVEL 66’ is for older primary children (yrs 3-6). Contact Rosalie Atkinson for more information on 62920515.
- ‘RAINBOW KIDS’ is designed especially for the 3-5 year olds. It is a simple program of activities for the littlies and enables parents to participate in the worship 'unencumbered' by the demands of such small children. Contact Jenny Martensz for more information on 62861389.
If you would like your children to participate in this ministry (or would like to assist as a teacher or helper) just give the office a call. Alternatively come along on a Sunday morning.
Mothers Union: Mothers Union meets on the third Thursday of every month at 10am at the church. This is an Anglican movement and the St George's branch is a small but active arm.
For details contact Irene Copping on 62861402.
Music: Many people are involved with the music ministry at St G's and we incorporate a wide range of styles and material. There is always room for new participants. A number of teams coordinate the music for our worship services and practice times vary according to need. Some teams are predominantly acoustic, others are more heavily electronic but no matter what style of music we do our aim is to glorify God and offer him our gifts in service for worship and praise.
